Buttermilk Channel in Brooklyn buzzes with energy, especially on a busy Saturday morning, and our experience there was as vibrant as the setting. Seated at the bar due to the crowd, we were immediately welcomed not just with friendly service but with complimentary orange juice--a thoughtful touch from the bartender that set a hospitable tone for the meal. The food lineup was a parade of comfort classics, each dish trying to outdo the last. The buttermilk biscuits were delightfully flaky, perfect for setting the stage. The buttermilk pancakes followed, light and fluffy, embodying the ideal breakfast staple. Then came the pecan pie French toast, an indulgent twist that melded sweetness and nuttiness in a memorable bite. The ABC grilled cheese--adding apple, bacon, and cheddar to the mix--offered a savory counterpoint with its satisfying crunch and melt. But the star was undoubtedly the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich; crispy, juicy, and just the right kind of messy, it was a dish that demanded a return visit. Despite the initial wait and the snug bar seating, the overall atmosphere contributed positively to our dining experience, enhanced by efficient and cheerful service. Buttermilk Channel delivered a feast that was worth every moment of anticipation, leaving no question as to why their reputation precedes them.

Was having a late night craving for fried chicken and waffles and buttermilk channel was the top suggested restaurant in my area. Thank god for random cravings because this was the best last minute decision we've had in a while. This restaurant delivered on all our wants, delicious cocktails, amazing food, lovely service and ambience. Started with the rib appetizer and it was so so good. The peach barbecue sauce was a great touch to the fall off the bone ribs. Paired with an order of the cornbread with homemade spicy maple butter. Yum yum yumm! For entrees, of course friend chicken and waffles and their burger. Everything was cooked perfectly and definitely lived up to our expectations. Will be going back for sure and would recommend this place to anyone craving delicious food.

Tried this place with friends recently. Very nice place. Nice menu not huge but enough selections. Nice drink menu also. Service was good and food was delicious! We had popovers to start and then I ordered the fish and my friends ordered the porkchop entree. We all loved our selections! Dessert we had the olive oil cake, the pecan pie sundae and the chocolate dessert. Those were just ok they could have been better. I would go back though to try some other stuff.

I'm not sure why I haven't come here sooner. This is a great brunch place to go with friends. I recommend making a reservation because they do get really busy for brunch. My waiter was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. I enjoyed their music playlist, and it wasn't loud. It was comfortable enough that you could hear the person next to you. The food was delicious! I had the fried chicken sandwich with French fries, and it was so good! The chicken was crunchy and juicy, the pickles were sweet, and the coleslaw was delicious. I love a good fried chicken sandwich; this one was honestly the best I ever had.

Compliments to the Chef. The meals were fantastic. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive but not intrusive. The restaurant is intimate and comfortable. Not overwhelmed by music or conversation. The signature Chicken & Cheddar Waffles were delicious in every way. The crunch on that fried chicken let me know something good was about to go down. More importantly there was a depth of flavor beyond the crunch. The Cheddar Waffles, had a delicate balance of savory sweetness. A friend ordered the Short Ribs, and I was told that they were tender and flavored well, and by the look of the bones left behind I believed them. In addition, the side of buttermilk mashed potatoes were so smooth, and creamy. Just dreamy goodness. All in all a great experience!

Great little brunch spot! My food was very good. Nice service. They take reservations:)

Brooklyn just keeps trying to outdo itself with all these brunch spots, most of which are similar in nature with subtle changes to each restaurant's menu. Talk about cozy! This is a tight spot with only 20 tables, all white tablecloth, a hoity-toity bar off to the side, with another 10 tables outside. When it is a beautiful day, expect a bit of a wait. As for me, to the bar I go, taking my cue to exit stage left towards it. It does not take long for me to know what I want. A sticky bun, some pancakes, and of course, some fried chicken and a cheddar waffle. Yes sir, of course sir, and the order is placed as I wait not too long for item #1 to arrive. The sticky bun is oooey-gooey and has a nice sweet note. It is small, but not too small. Not like the ones you would receive at a Hampton Inn. It has a bit of a crunch as well, but overall not a bad deal, especially for the kids. Items #2 and #3 come not long after, so my stomach has little time to adjust to the new sensations. I try the Fried Chicken and Waffle first. The chicken has a nice fry to it, definitely has a buttermilk dredge to it because of the sour notes I picked up on. It is a dark piece of meat, but has good flavor. A little fatty and a very juicy bird, but it works well because the waffle is soft and cakey. The cheddar comes through subtly and contrasts nicely with the chicken. The side salad is great as a sidekick to the dish. I went for the pancakes last. Would it be a mistake? If you mean that they are massive, yes. Otherwise, they are three plate sized pancakes that are light, fluffy, and delicious. Like the chicken, these were made with a buttermilk starter as I can taste a bit of sour in the pancakes. They come with a dusting of powdered sugar and not much else. Some fruit would have been nice, but I will take what I can get. The pancakes should not be overlooked when looking for a safe item for anybody of any age. After my meal was over, I made sure to walk this off by taking the hard way all the way up to the platform of Smith-9th Street on the F/G train. It is the tallest elevated station in the system, and doing that would definitely burn some of this off. Get here early on a weekend and enjoy your brunch at Buttermilk Channel.

Good brunch spot for catching up with a small group. I would recommend making a reservation if you go during the weekend, since at around 2pm Sunday it was still pretty busy. Portions are large so go hungry! Nothing stood out to me as particularly unique, but I think the value here is better than at some other brunch spots. The pancakes I ordered were massive and fluffy, and I would order again. The rest of my table had yogurt and granola, a fried chicken sandwich, and a pecan pie french toast. The sandwich overall was a bit weak in flavor and could have used a sauce, but the chicken itself was done well. The french toast was giant - half a loaf of bread perhaps?? - definitely the chunkiest I've seen. Service was decent. Our waiter was attentive, checking in pretty often. It's lively inside but the chatter is not overwhelming, so overall vibes are nice. Great experience on the whole!

It's been awhile since I've been to Brooklyn but I knew I wanted a memorable meal while here. Yelp led me to Buttermilk Channel. I'll be honest, I saw breakfast food photos hoping I could get that on a weekday only to realize they were brunch items that are available on the weekend. Reviews still looked great so I went. We had a reservation, but arrived to find there were tables available and we were seated immediately in the cutest window seat. The hostess doubled as our server, but he was very nice and helpful too. Started with an app - the house-made ricotta. It sounded delicious and the server agreed. The portion was enough to share. It was flavorful and the bread was very fresh. I ordered a honeysuckle rose cocktail. It was good. For an entree I went with the beer-steamed mussels. Wow. The portion was huge, the broth was amazing and the bread was fresh. I really enjoyed it. I loved that the broth was spicy and that it had lots of green olives. That was unique and added so much flavor. As I looked around, everyone's food looked good. The burger looked amazing, so did the bread pudding. I was so happy that this lived up to the hype and that I had a chance to visit.
